Swim and lift

I am getting bad at keeping this updated (sound familiar Mum?)!

So last week, Wednesday... I don't remember much about work. But then I do remember that at 5pm I went to my car, got my gym stuff, changed and then ran to the gym. 

I then did a super quick set of squats, lunges and a couple of leg machines and then I ran/walked.. mainly walked to the leisure centre to meet Lois. 

We got changed and headed into the changing rooms to get into our swimming cossies!

We used to go swimming lots and just do some lengths whilst having a natter. We haven't done it in a while so it was really nice to do again. Although, you seriously get out of breath! We used to go every Sunday when we were at school, and I don't remember having to stop to breath so much, definitely getting old. 

We chatted about life whilst swimming up and down and getting splashed by kids, which I couldn't help but laugh at cos it was just annoyingly funny!

We waited around for the sauna but it was too full so just gave up, showered and headed back to mine. 

I'd made Lois that slimming world stew so she tucked into that and I had a beef stew I'd made and frozen recently too, it was so good! We'd built up an appetite. We chatted some more (we could talk forever and ever) and then Lois headed home to watch 13 reasons why. Finally my girl is watching a series we can chat about. 

Then me and Ant chilled as usual and off to bed.

Thursday was a good evening! (I'm skipping the day parts now because I just don't remember work from a week ago.)

I got home, did some housey bits and then got into my gym gear, ready to go to Ladies that Lift. The clues in the name what it is.. but it's a weight lifting class for women, just in case I need reminding in my old age when I read this back.

I was actually quite nervous! I don't know why as I gym/lift a lot and really enjoy it! And as I've mentioned in this blog before, I feel most confident exercising.. 

But anyway, I left really early cos I just wanted to go!! Then got there super early and thought I'd go chat to the other early arrivers cos I'd like to get to know people who like lifting too. But I was the only one there that early (loser).

I got chatting to the lady that ran the class and she explained that you go to each station and do 1 warm up set and then 3 sets of 12. The stations were deadlifts, chest press, leg press, hip thrusts etc.. 

Anyway, I ended up being paired with the founder of Ladies that Lift - who was obviously really strong! I am so glad I got to go with her as she really really pushed me! She made me beat my personal best in most exercises as she was like 'you can go up in weight, you got this!' and I did! It was frigging awesome, I was so buzzing afterwords as I felt quite strong and proud of myself. 



It was really really good and I want to go every week! Everyone was so nice and really encouraging each other. 

BUT omg I ached the next day.. it's now Monday and my hamstrings still hurt! But I love the ache, can't wait to go again. 

I got home and wanted to tell Ant all about it but he had his friends over so I couldn't chew anyone's ear off about it.. shame.
